As we prepare for a New Year, now is the time to think about what we want to change in our lives. One area we can focus on is creating more healthy habits in our home. This is important for ourselves, and our families.
With New Years rolling in everyone is thinking about new year’s resolutions. This year instead of picking a hard to reach goal why not make it your resolution to pick up a healthy habit or two?
These healthy habits are perfect to pick up in the new year.
Drinking more water is a great healthy habit to pick up in the new year. Water is essential to the health of our bodies. Water helps body functions and detoxifies. Carry a water bottle with you and set reminders on your phone to get into the habit of drinking more water.
More and more often people go without enough sleep. This depletes your health and brain function. Try going to sleep a little bit earlier each night or shutting off electronic devices and read a book to help relax so you can fall asleep easier and sleep better at night.
This year make a point of getting more exercise. Exercises help your body stay healthy, gain strength, and detoxify. Getting plenty of exercises is vital to keeping healthy. Start by slowly adding more exercises to your daily life in fun ways you are more likely to stick to.
Make cooking from scratch more of a priority. Processed food costs more and is filled with unwanted chemicals. Try to cook at home more often than stopping by the drive-through or building prepackaged foods.
Eat more fruits and vegetables. While you are making cooking a priority work on adding more fresh produce to your diet. This is a great way to get more vitamins and fiber into your diet.
Start taking a multivitamin. So often our diets are lacking and even if you have a perfect diet depleted vitamins and minerals in the soil means you may still not be getting enough of everything. Taking a multivitamin is a great way to get more of what you need.
Modeling healthy habits in our homes is an important part of positive parenting. We want to prepare our children for healthy futures. One way we can do that is by making healthy habits a priority in the New Year.
